Bush and his cronies have no clue. That are not smart enough to know that Iraq was a mistake from the start. Republicans also never admit to their own failures, never. Republicans love sending others off to fight and die and do their dirty work for them.
Republicans also want the working class to pay for that mistake in Iraq. The $2 trillion cost of the war in Iraq should be paid by them.
We have 19,000 wounded and 2598 dead Americans and Iraq is in civil war, no matter what we do Iran will control Iraq in the end.
Only a real Idiot would ever think a terrorist would face any Marine in a fair fight to the death. They do their dirty work behind our backs. I think in this context, the president is much like one of those managers or even senior level executives in a company who throw their stake into a particular pet project, and then try and remind everyone about it 24/7, even to the point of linking ridiculously unrelated issues to it.
The administration was well aware, very early on, that the colonization of Iraq would be a massive undertaking. So it makes political sense that they try and make Iraq their platform.
