I abhor my ignorance (and will flog myself for it promply) about this. How much of us really are educated in the origins of Judaism, Islam and Christianity? How much of this ignorance is to blame for warring nations?

thanks BMCR, I agree with what you've pointed out...i too think that besides culture and knowledge it boils down to an individual's will to follow an innate adherence to good or evil.

During the Nazi regime, there was a Christian minister who was close with the higher elchelons of the Nazi party. He was one of the first who proposed a final solution for the Jews though his discounted it for being "impractical" (Hitler apparently thought otherwise).

Now, this minister was not ignorant of Judaism. He had had many Jewish freidns in the past, knew Hebrew, and was well educated.

My point being is that although ignorance can contribute to things like war and strife it is by no means the sole cause.

One can be extremely well informed and still be evil.

Very interesting question. Yes Issac is the second son born to Abraham and Sarah. Ishmael was the first son from the product of Abraham and Sarah's maid. God had promised Abraham and Sarah a child. Abraham lost patience and Sarah said; since I'm old you should have my maid.

Abraham sent the maid away with their son Ishmael, so that his legitimate son Isaac could be the inheritor of his estate. Since then there has been a dispute between the Jews and Arabs for thousands of years.

Judaism has evolved from its original order from the Torah. Islam has in itself been turned upside down with the religious extremist. Christianity has its order from Jesus Christ. He established his avenue as Savior to the world.

How much better would it be to let history be history, start fresh, and commit ourselves to peace, love, charity?

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let
us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other"

From Galations 5.
