Being "in love" is about as close to mental illness as I ever want to get. Especially, when you are in love by yourself.
When both of you are insane at the same time, it is easier to take.

I have experienced both of these, and it is very wonderful for a while, and then so painful, and yet you want it to work so you hang on.
You can't eat, sleep, or think about anything else. It is like an obsession. Nothing has any meaning, except hearing the phone ring with your loved one on the other end, saying" Can I come over?"
Apparently, Plato loved someone who didn't love him.
I would do it all again, so that's pretty crazy.

Are you confident that this sentence somewhat looks in any of the works of Plato? i don't think of it does. i think you got here across it on a sort of "quote web content" that makes up faux rates and attributes them to the incorrect guy or woman, and not in any respect provides a particular quotation to a particular e book or different source. additionally, be careful approximately assuming that something recent in considered one of Plato's dialogues is somewhat Plato's opinion. The dialogues are in simple terms that -- alleged comments of conversations between 2 or extra human beings -- and the countless characters in them many times state contradictory perspectives. Plato many times made between the characters say some thing he (Plato) disagreed with so as that yet another character (generally Socrates) ought to contradict the argument.

heart challenges the notions of the mind...

mind relies on logic and reason...

heart believes blindly ...it trusts its feelings endlessly...the faith of the heart isn't blind...it has its own vision...a vision that the mind cant see...its only felt...

"the heart is deep" ~ Pslams

feelings are deeper than thoughts...

theres a conflict between the mind and the heart...thoughts are a mirror of what we know...feelings are a reflection of what we dont see...

the mind cant understand the heart...because feelings are not thoughts...the mind can't "feel"...

the heart says so much more than the mind can ever know...then the mind doesnt know what to believe...
when the mind confronts the reality mirrored by the heart, it goes crazy!

"love is a mental disease"....

did Plato miss somethin'? Nope. He was just playin;)

I beleive he meant that people act crazy when they are in love, particularly newly in love.

I think of Theseus's speech at the end of A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare:
"Lovers and madmen have such seething brains..."

another quote for support:
"reason and love keep little company nowadays"

I'm currently reading Stephen King's Gunslinger series, and in book 4, he compares love to a drug addiction, where it completely consumes you and alters your thinking patterns, clouding your judegement.

hope I helped.

I'm not Plato, so i can't really tell you what he meant, but what i understood from it... It sounds like love is something that takes control of and confuses your mind so much that it's like a sickness. Hard to understand, and almost impossible to cure.

Well this is a disease because:
"Love is a state in which a man sees things most decidedly as they are not."
