When ever I read a book and love it then they come out with the movie and the movie always ends up sucking compared to the book. Why? What is your opinion? Or do you like the movies better?

I too like the books better that the movie. Books make you use your imagination, and they go further into detail. Plus i liike to read more than watch a movie. When they make movies it makes other people lazy. Like i can read a book and tell my friend how good it is then the movie of it will come out and instead of that friend reading the book they will see the movie and it will either suck or be nothing like the book. the too just can't compare. Although some books are so good that you want to see them made into movies.

I like reading the book first and then go to watch the movie. I have noticed that the book is always better! Maybe because when I read the book I imagine how the plot, the characters and the scenery will be...and then when I watch the movie...it's not how I imagined it to be...so I feel a bit dissapointed! Also in a movie..they can't put all the details that the book has..so I prefer the book!

Usually the book is better in my opinion. However, I have found some movies that were better than the books. Fried Green Tomatoes,Dying Young, and Anne of Green Gables come to mind.

Usually the books have way too much detail to include in the movie, so they have to cut a lot of it out. For instance the movies The Joy Luck Club, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and Jesus of Nazereth(based on the book of Luke from the Bible) were all a lot less detailed than the actually books they were based on. If all the details were included, the movies would have to be atleast five hours long.

Books are better, the reason being is that books allow your imagination to take over and make it what you envision. Whereas movies spoon feed you what the director envisions. If the two don't match then the movie for you will suck.

Also time constraints are a factor because a movie can't include all the details that are in the book.

I think in most all cases the books are better.

I had never had the opportunity to read a book before the movie was released.

When I found out 'Hannibal' was being made (since I loved Silence of the Lambs and was looking forward to Red Dragon), I decided that it was a good chance to read the book first.

I absolutely loved the book and it kicked butt over the film, even though I did enjoy the film. In fact, I probably enjoyed it and understood it better because I had read the book first.

In almost every case, i prefer the book, because there are more content in it that the movie where time matter more.
But there are exceptions, if the film is really good made, e.g: i prefer Breakfast at Tiffany's movie than book. But for Harry Potter, Hell(a French book) and Lord of the Ring, books are way better!

Usually the book is better than the movie. However, I liked Jurassic Park the movie better than the book. I also liked the movie Contact better than the book.

The movie simply cannot match the scope of the book. Nor can it create the story in your mind the way that you created it. Therefore, any movie version is an interpretation of the way that the screenwriters saw the book, and is bound to fall short of the expectations of many readers.
Also, movies simply don't have enough time to put everything in that the book can and still be commercially viable.

It depends on the book for me. But oftentimes I like the book and the movie equally simply because I don't expect them to be the same. I look at the book and the movie as two completely different entities.
