I always get a good night's sleep (7-9 hours) but then at work, when I'm sat at my desk, I always feel tired, and have sometimes fallen asleep. What should I do?

To answer this question correctly, you should state your age, job,
health conditions and any other personal data that is pertinent
to your general state of mind such us, depression status of
marriage, eating and drinking habits, if any. The amount of
sleep does not necessarily mean that you slept well, you could
be snoring, dreaming which are facts you may not remember
in the morning. Nowadays there are sleep centres where you
spend the night hooked up to an ECG that can detect if you are
really resting in your sleep or if you need help. Think about it
a little longer, for in my opinion, barring any physical health, you
should consult a sleep centre

That can have several reasons.
Do not drink more coffee because Coffein isn't good for your body.
Maybe 2 cups during the day is ok.
The body gets used to coffein and you will need to drink more and more over time to wake you up.
That is something what they don't tell you in the discription.
If you usually drink a lot of coffee it would be a good Idea to stop it because coffe dihydrates your body.
It is always good to drink a lot of mineral water during the day.
You might have a Vitamin problem.
Try to find some Multivitamin. But only one or maybe 2 a day not more.
Also try to do some execise in the evening just before you go to sleep and just a little bit in the morning.
You don't need to run or something just some small execise.
Going around and have some fresh air is good for you.
Put your feets in the evening in some cool water when you watch TV.
Try to get some glucose and mix it with cold water and drink it during the day.
Also what is very important to drink a nice gals of cold water when you stand up in the morning.
If it doesn't go away have a chat to you doctor.
That is all at the moment I can think of.

I have had the same problem and I too get enough sleep, I have tried loads of things like Red Bull etc but the best thing for it is easy. Eat a half decent breakfast cereal or toast is enough and eat an apple on your way to work or within the first 1 of wakening up. I also bought a small desk fan for a fiver which is on all day circulating cool air around me, and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Trust me this will work.

Well don't drink coffee, I know Lindsey (with the fabulous hair by the way!) recommended that you do, but it actually wont help. Drink water instead, and lots of it. Also check that the lighting, temperature and humidity in the office is comfortable - any one of those aspects could be a contributing factor. Your diet might also be playing a part. You could pop to the doctors for a blood test - probably wise if you are actually falling asleep at work. Exercise will also give you more energy, so if you can go to the gym before work that could help you.

Good luck with it.

Do you eat a healthy breakfast? Take a multivitamin? Drink enough water? Exercise regularly?

If you are lacking any of these, that may contribute. It could also be possible that you aren't getting as good a night's sleep as you think. Do you snore or toss and turn? That could give you an indication that way.

If none of these seem to be the culprit for your problem, I'd suggest talking to your doctor. There might be something else going on with your body.

Get some excercise. Leave you desk periodically and walk around. Watch the sugar and carbs. Most snacks that people keep in their desk drawers do not promote high energy. Drink 8 glasses of water a day and try to get some fresh fruits and vegetables in everyday. Sound familiar? Now, if I can just follow my own advice.

Change your breakfast cereal (try porridge instead) - or if it happens in the afternoon, change what you eat for lunch.

Avoid refined starch - potatoes, white bread, pasta, white rice - and sweet things, including fizzy drinks. They cause a spike in blood sugar, your body produces too much insulin, then your blood sugar dips down below a normal level and you get sleepy.

Also, don't drink tea/coffee after 6pm, and don't drink alcohol the night before a work day (both mean your sleep is not as good at recharging you as it should be).

I was the same at work even though I wasn't bored before I became a stay at home mum - your metabolism could use a lift. Raise your heartbeat for 20 mins a day and lay off the fast burning simple carbs that give you that crashed feeling - especially if you feel like this mid afternoon. Drink plenty water too.

Some of these answer you received are good answer's:
Drink coffee
Eat a Good Break-fest
Drink Red Bull
Take Vitamin B

I would go with Get a new job: you either have nothing to do, you run out of work, its way to easy, your just bored with it.
I would look for another job at a higher level (if your worker, look for a job as a supervisor or manager). I would also suggest that you exercise some.

Good luck...

Maybe the job is a bit boring

look for a challenge in it, MAKE it more interesting, go the extra mile.

maybe the boss notices and gives you promotion, if you think that is sucking up then you have an attitude problem of 'them and us'

a better job is there, go get it.
