Yes, there can be problems with your baby. Your unborn child can become slightly starved of oxygen if subjected to periods of a lack of oxygen - what happens when you breath in smoke.
This causes the enlargement of the baby's head at the expense of other developing body areas, in order that the most oxygen possible is delivered to the brain.
This in turn leads to poor development of veins and arteries, which means you will give birth to a child of low body weight, an enlarged head and who will be more likely to suffer cardiovascular disease in later life; i.e. high blood pressure, heart disease, strokes etc.
This damage is irreversible!!! (That means, once the damage is done, ther'es no changing it).
Tell your idiot boyfriend to go and do something more useful (like change the cat litter, maybe?) than polluting your and the baby's air supply with toxic fumes.
As for the canabis - obviously you can get stoned from it, which means you aren't safe to drive anywhere. This can also effect your baby's metabolism (as well as all the problems associated with the smoke as above). Cannabis remains in the bloodstream for several weeks - which is why heroin is more popular in prison as it leaves the body quickly and doesn't show up in blood tests - so even the occassional joint could do long term damage to your baby.
As for the cat litter, I'm not sure - but seriously - you're happy sitting there breathing it in?

First of all, second hand smoke is second hand smoke. It's dangerous and he should have the common courtesy to not do it around you. Also, you don't want him getting arrested right in front of a baby for smoking pot, do you? That will look so bad and you will have a report filed against you with DSS. Second part of your question, as long as you don't touch the kitty litter, you will be fine. It is not contagious through the air, only on contact with feces.

american girl, she doesnt change the litter box because she doesnt want to be exposed to toxoplasmosis while she is pregnant. i am sure she is having someone else do it.
As long as the litter box is being cleaned often and you are not the one doing it , it shouldnt be a problem. But you should discuss your concern with your doctor. And about the smoking, he should not be doing this around you. And he should never smoke around the baby after it is born. Much of asthma in children is linked with them being exposed to second hand smoke. Not to mention a whole lot of other illnesses they are at risk of through second hand smoke.

Apparently if your regular routine is to clean the litter box there isn't that much of a great risk. Your body is used to the air born toxins. But you may want to confirm with your doctor.
As for your boyfriend I think you know what you need to do. At the very least ask him to smoke outside for your baby's sake. He needs to realize that he is going to be a daddy soon and that to do this job well he needs to be a grown up and think of others before himself. If he does not care enough to take a simple step outside to ensure the health of those around him, what kind of father is he really going to be?

Tell him that he CANNOT smoke anything around you as it is very unhealthy for the baby. This will also be good for him so he'll learn not to smoke around the baby after it is born! Set ONE place where he can smoke (the garage?) so that you and the baby are not exposed to the smoke.
Just don't change the litterbox and you'll be fine as far as the cat is concerned. Make him change it for you.

cigarette smoke can affect the baby thats why they advise pregnant women not to smoke/be around smoke.
as for the cats i dont beleive its as easy as through the air (im not sure on this cats bit). but at the same time it might not be as easy to avoid as not touching the feces. i beleive it has to do with the dust of the litter etc.

a little advice, get rid of the cat, and the boyfriend. The last thing you need is a child to grow up around drugs. You want your son to start doing drugs when he is 10 years old? When I found out I was pregnant I told my boyfriend to have his fun while he can, because when the baby was here that was it. And you know what he did.

cat litter tray/box... all faeces (animals) have disease in them
the main one in cat poo is toxoplasmosis, which is highly dangerous when you are pregnant.
**Persons who are pregnant or are experiencing a suppressed immune system due to AIDS, cancer or following organ transplants are at higher risk for illness.
***Cats can also spread the parasite in their feces. Therefore humans can also become infected with toxoplasmosis when changing a cat litter box or working in an area contaminated with cat feces.
****Pregnancy and toxoplasmosis
A growing fetus can become infected with the toxoplasmosis parasite. This can happen if the mother is infected with the parasite while pregnant or before she becomes pregnant. Infection in the unborn child early in pregnancy can result in miscarriage, poor growth, early delivery or stillbirth. If a child is born with toxoplasmosis he/she can experience eye problems, hydrocephalus (water on the brain), convulsions or mental disabilities.
Treatment of an infected pregnant woman may prevent or lessen the disease in her unborn child. Treatment of an infected infant will also lessen the severity of the disease as the child grows
*****Clean the litter box daily so that the parasite does not have a chance to become infectious.
Avoid cleaning cat litter boxes if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant. (get ur bf to do it)
boyfriend smoking marijuana/cigerettes
**Young children have delicate lungs that are more easily affected by the chemicals in tobacco smoke. If exposed to passive smoking, children are more likely to develop sensitive airways, and are more susceptible to health problems.
Some simple steps to ‘Care for your baby’s air’
Make your home smoke-free
Place smoke-free stickers in your home, your car, or your baby’s pram
Provide ashtrays outdoors for visitors or family members who smoke
Visit smoke free venues and congratulate these venues for being smoke free
Don’t be afraid to ask people not to smoke near you or your child
passive smoking can also cause you baby to have lung problems when born and asthma went it is older.
what to do?
tell your boyfriend to smoke outside away from you and the baby. if he loves you and his unborn baby health then he will. try and see if he will stop go to http://www.givingupsmoking.co.uk/ they will give him help and advice to quit the habit.
with the money he saves which i can say alot cos weed cos between 10-120 pounds depending on what he gets. and then up to 6 pounds on fags. with that money he could treat u and when the baby is born the little on too.
hope this helps.
