Hi, i hear that in the 1st year of Uni, all students of engineering study the same stuff. I'm interested in Aeronautical; can anyone tell me Subjects (syllabus) studied there? I heard also that good CAD skills is important. How can I train in CAD before going to Uni?

Hello! Well on my Aero course we had a completely common 1st year with the Mechanical Engineers. Civils and Electricals did different modules to us.

They taught us CAD there but I was never good at it! You'll find that on such a varied course you will all have different strengths and weaknesse and learn to work together to achieve the best you all can. Don't worry about doing any extra courses whilst you are studying for your A-levels, concentrate on them.

We did (throughout the whole degree) Maths, Design (inc CAD), Fluid Mechanics, THermodynamics, Materials, Mechanics, Stress and Structures, Electrical stuff (not my favourite!), Gas Turbines, Aerodynamics, Flight Mechanics, Dynamics, Gas Turbines, Optical systems, Management, Maths modelling my choices were Computational FLuid Dynamics, Trials and Navigation Systems and I did a Group Aircraft Design Project.

After my 1st degree i went on to do a MSc by Research.

Good luck with the career, its worth it!

A lot of high schools offer a CAD course. But yes, first year engineering requirements are very similar. You're looking at English Comp., Analytic Geometry and Calc., an elective, and then probably some intro to engineering. course and engineering physics. Maybe a computer class too.
