Just try to imagine you being in their shoes. Use a little humor in it (not making fun of them)
Use details that will actually help them and don't just ramble off! Well, good luck!

Just answer seriously and don't be sarcastic. I know when I'm asking a question, I like serious answers that are informative and have good grammar. None of the whole "dat" and "dis" stuff. Also, answer questions that you know. Like, dont answer a question if you honestly have no clue what the answer is.

If you do that you're sure to have a bigger chance of getting best answer. Even if you don't, at least you tried. Eventually you'll get best answers though-it takes time and patience. Good luck.

Desiree S:

First,... Welcome to Y!A. Now to your question.

FEVER!!! has given some really good advice here...

My two cents:
Never be in a hurry to be the 'first' answer. I've found that the best responses to questions are usually not the first ones. Take your time to give as informative and/or original answer as you can; that is what most BEST ANSWERS are made of, --- and BEST ANSWERS are where the points are at.

Honestly, I gave up caring about points within a month after I first logged onto Y!A. I feel that the Y!A 'point system' degrades the usefulness of the site, and I would like to see it eliminated (fat chance...)... ;-)

Good Luck!

be thorough and informative about subjects you feel qualified to answer. also remeber to use "point of view", meaning look at the situation from the point of view being represented by the question.
