Our OB's start internal exams at 36 weeks, and that is when your weekly appointments begin. - Usually you start every other week appointments at 32 weeks, not the internal exams though - not yet. They will want urine specimens to check for the presence of protein or sugar.
Make sure to ask for a copy of your prenatal record at about 36 weeks and put it in your suitcase to take to the hospital. It has important information, blood type, rubella status, hepatitis B status, that they will need for your care.
Relax, enjoy the last weeks of pregnancy - yeah, I know it's hot, your big, your ankles look like tree stumps - but savor the kicks and flutters - and love your little one!

It's a little different with each doctor. Some start the weeklies at 36 and some start them at 38. Mine started them at 36 weeks...and each visit involves the regular stuff plus a pelvic exam.
You can always request them at ANY visit. You're the pregnant one, so you're the boss. If you think there is a need...then there is a need.
Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

They usually start at 38 weeks with internals, unless you request it earlier. I have been going every 2 weeks since my pregnancy started due to having an infant loss at 24 weeks. Now I will start going every week since I was 1cm dilated and 100% effaced for almost 3 weeks now. Most people start every 2 weeks at 32 weeks until 36 and than they start weekly
Most of your appts will be as they have been since your 2nd appt.

whilst i began out making accepted practitioner appointments you're able to circulate each and each month. Then the 8 month each and every 2 weeks and the final month or so each and every week. they only drew blood two times for me (thank god...i'm terrible with needles too) as quickly as replaced into for the glucose try which you're taking around 32 weeks or so. yet different than that they are going to weigh you, take your blood rigidity, verify your urine for sugar, and then verify toddler's heartbeat. Then I had 3 ultrasounds yet i do no longer undergo in strategies how some distance alongside i replaced into for each. i think of that approximately covers it. Oh and your first actual apt they're going to prolly do a pap

I started getting internal exams at 34 weeks but I think that every doctor is different.
If you feel like something isn't right, call your doctor and they will probably give you an internal exam then.

They usually do a test for group B strep at your 36 week appointment. They do a swab culture.. if you ask they will usually check for changes then if you ask since you are undressed anyway, after that it depends on the doc. They won't start checking you yet unless there is reason too.. good luck and congratulations on the pending birth of your child :)
