There are risks associated with an overweight pregnancy, especially if you're more than 20 percent over your healthy body weight:

Preeclampsia/High Blood Pressure
Gestational Diabetes
Gaining more than 38 pounds during pregnancy can increase the risk of post-menopausal breast cancer by 40%.
Women who keep on the added weight after pregnancy and carry it with them to menopause are at greater risk for post-menopausal reast cancer than women who manage to lose the excess weight before menopause.
Obese women have a higher chance of having to have c-sections.
Birth Defects & Premature Birth are linked to being overweight before pregnancy.
Overweight women have higher incidence of anesthetic and post-operative complications in their deliveries.
Maternal obesity increases the risk of newborn death and babies entering into the ICU.

Being overweight does increase your chances for a larger than normal sized baby, possibly weighing over 10 pounds.

Usually the first 3 months are the most likely times to have a miscarriage (if it's going to happen).

Unfortunately u r not out of the clear yet.. Once u pass your 12th week your chances of miscarriage drop dramatically. Try not to worry to much though. As for being a little overweight the 2 major probs are down the road gestational diabetes and raised blood pressure. This is usually later in preganacy, but can happen to anyone any size, but more prominent in heavier people. If u r already physically active please continue, just eat healthy and maybe take a few walks a week. Good luck and God bless!

The chances of miscarriage is more between 12-14 wks , when there is a shift of work between ovaries and placenta, at a time when there is a chance for a drop in the hormone level, which protects the conception.
Just a little overweight is no problem, try to eat more less fatty food so that you wont gain excess weight .

Usually when a pregnancy reaches 12 weeks (3 months) the risk for miscarriage drops significantly. As for being overweight and pregnant, as long as you are just a little overweight, the risks are not any greater than being a "normal" weight. Just eat right and take care of yourself.

Some people wait until they are actually showing before they tell anyone else about the pregnancy. That part depends on how comfortable you are.

There is always a risk of gestational diabetes and preeclampsia.

after 6 months, the end of your second trimester, your baby will still survive even if you have a premature birth, so after 6 months the chances of having a miscarriage reduce a lot.
