Why does Bono keep going on about MONEY? He is about to move from Ireland to Holland because he will end up having to pay taxes in Ireland. He is about to earn about £200 million, which is about 280 million euro. Obviously Holland is a tax haven for him. The government would want at least 20 per cent of that. But even after all the tax deductions he will still be raking it in.

If he does not want to give the Irish government (his home for the last 46 odd years) his money at least give it to foreign aid and stop wittering on about us having to proceed to causes. I give money to all necessary charities, his included. If you could get 5 of the biggest names in entertainment and get them to donate 20 per cent of what they would earn in the year the world might see a better africa.

If you look at the concert U2 did in Slane he goes on about how it cost their parents £500 each to get the record deal, then says to the audience you probably gave us that all back by now.

OBVIOUSLY!

He is an idiot. I used to like him at the start of U2, but now he is a self-obsessed idiot. I agree with you, that it is ridiculous that he is complaining about money.
And all this benevolent stuff he talks about...why not living in a small town house and give his money for something useful.
And why does he have to make it so official that he supports things? Does he want to be "Father" Teresa? A bit of modesty would suit him well....certainly better than his stupid sunglasses.

I couldn't agree more

He could give 99% of his wealth away, and still be considered RICH ... still be a multi millionaire. He's a complete knobfcuk ....

He only got into the old poverty thing because he was FORCED into doing live aid, which pretty much launched U2 on the global mega band stage, and he's kept it up since. He once flew his hairdresser from Ireland to LA to cut his hair, cost thousands, I don't need to tell you how many Africans that could feed.....

He has about 8 houses .... and moans about people in the world being poor ... does he have such little grasp of economics that he thinks everyone could have 8 houses if we all just dig a little deeper in our pockets and GIVE

Bono, you're a fcuking ****!

Bono is a ****! (I'd use a stronger word only it would be censored). I hate everything about him: his arrogance, his music, and the fact that he thinks he can represent Ireland. It really made me sick to see him being involved in the opening of the Beckett festival earlier this year. And that idiotic poem he wrote smacked of ignorance. He obviously didn't do his homework: Beckett's work was not about just being wacky for the sake of it, as Bono's ode certainly was, but made fundamental statements about the human condition. Of course take Bono to miss that. He clearly didn't belong there, but he's always sticking his nose in where it doesn't belong. That farce with Trimble and Hume being another case in point.

what pisses me off about bono isn't the rent a mouth or rent a cause of the week he's irish and spends more time twittering on about any other country than here. he had the nerve to stand on stage and hold the hands of trimble and hume like they were some sort of political gods. they didnt get the ceasefire its obvious who did. bono has done nothing for ireland and is seen as some kind of hero and hes a liar he said he gave the late pope his wrap around shades and he put them on, look at the video footage he doesnt put them anywhere near his face

Bono is a self righteous douche. He will go on and on about saving the world. He's not really that interested in helping out, he knows it will sell more albums. Lets face it, U2 is a crappy band. Bono has a very annoying voice, The Edge (what a pretentious name) only knows like 3 things on guitar. If Bono didn't whore himself like that, they would have been forgotten long ago. And lets not forget he's Irish. If he wants to criticize every other country, fine, but he needs to remember the problems his country has first.

Yes. Isn't it amazingly easy for these rich media mad celebs to carp on about how we should all be giving money to charity? I firmly believe that charity begins at home. Just because the rest of us don't get up on a soap box and shout about it, doesn't mean we don't give a damn.

To right! The guy a hypocrite! Does he need that amount of cash all for himself.
Maybe by telling everyone else to donate money is his way of justifying keeping hundreds of millions!!

Indeed, he's a hypocritical preacher. If he spent more time putting his hand in his pocket than telling the rest of us what to do maybe some of the issues he cares so passionately about would be resolved?

I used to think that U" were brilliant. Then Bonio stopped singed and started talking and I can no longer bear to listen to them. I think bonio should refund the price of the records I bought.
