I often do.

When it happens, I stop, withdraw and reconsider everything carefully. Example, why am I trying so hard to do my presentation well and stressing myself out so much?

Most times the reason would be something silly like wanting to look good in front of my bosses so that I would get a higher pay, more promotion, and so that my co workers will think highly of me and look up to me.

When I look carefully, I realise these things are important. But not too important. I could let go and be happier.

When I do, I unlock myself.

So periodically, I withdraw to unlock myself. Try it. It may be useful for you too.

(Your question made me think of lyrics from Green Day's "She") "Are you locked up in a world that's been planned out for you? Are you feeling like a social tool without a use?"

My answer is "No." I used to, for awhile, but I gradually woke up to the fact that I had locked the door to my own "prison cell" and that I was only as free as I chose to be -- getting over myself was the key that unlocked that "cell" door.

No. I live my life; I vote my conscience. I am aware of the influences that sorround me, and I'm not troubled by their existence.
