It depends on what you need it for, and your budget.
Small: Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4, Subaru Forrester
Big: Honda Pilot, Lexus RX350, Nissan Pathfinder
Jumbo: Toyota Sequoia
All the Hummers are really bad on gas. Just FYI.

There are no best SUVs They are not Sporty, they are not Utilitariun, they are just BIG Vehicles, who suck dowm gas & this is why we are having gasoline problems, because everyone, if they actually need one or not, is getting these behemoths, & using all the gas, polluting more & hoggiong up the roadway because they are so big! Most of the dumb & incredibly unsafe moves I have seen on the road have been made by SUV owners.
Get something that is at least good on gas! Buck the trend, be different, be smarter...

try rexton.. they got good models... reliable... very popular in Malaysia too.... go there for cross country drive, no problem...
