Give this link a browse. There's no need to reinstall, crack or hack. If you can access the Admin account you can edit your user account and change the password. Otherwise the link I provide will tell you how to fix your situation.

No, you don't have to format your computer. Follow these steps to retrieve your password.
1) Turn on your computer.
2) before loading to Bios, press F8/F12
3) When you press either one button you should see a black screen with white word, and there has few option to let you choose, such as "Normal," "Safe Mode"
4) Choose the "Saft Mode" and let it load to the Windows Desktop
5) Once it load to desktop or desktop screen you will see a logging option again, then click on the "Administrator" account.
6) Once you can access in, go to User Account on "Control Panel" and then click on the account that you created, and then click change password/remove password.
7) Close the "User Account" explorer and then restart the computer.

Can you sign into the admin account? If you can get into the admin account, you can sign on to the admin, set up a new user, and then copy over the files from your "documents and settings" folder.
If you can't get into the admin account, don't format, reinstall Windows, and just install over the current install. This way you won't lose any of your saved documents, and you can simply copy over anything you would like.

Of course.
Just take out your hard drive, take it to a friend, and boot the computer with your HD on slave. You can copy all the files you need with his windows. Now, DON"T do this in dos, it will truncate your filenames to 8 characters... and you don't want that.
Now if your pc is still in warranty I'm sure your pc vendors service department will be happy to do it. (for a fee)

Is there an admin account? In lieu of that, you could reload XP and it will retain all of your data. or download a password cracker from another machine.
