Yes, appliance spray paints work, but keep these things in mind:

1. Results are not instant, process takes time to complete for best results, especially since you are changing the color.
2. First remove any extras on the outside (e.g., handles) and lightly sand with a fine grain paper. Remove all dust with a cloth. Masking tape and newspaper areas you don't want to paint, protect inside and rubber seal.
3. Spray a very light coat, let dry recommended time between coats. Repeat coats until solid coverage.

The key is to spray on lightly each coat and to be patient enough between coats to wait the recommended time for drying. Some people spray too heavily on the first few coats and don't wait the appropriate time, so they are left with a runny, patchy appearance that peels/bubbles. Don't forget to wear gloves and face mask, and to do the work outside.

Worth doing if you do it right, good luck.

Black Appliance Paint

Appliance spray will work, but will over time fade and chip if you don't put it on thick enough. Problem is by putting it on thick all at once it causes all kinds of drips. You must put on several coats, about 24 hours apart to do it right. The best paint to use is a brush on epoxy paint. It goes on like regular paint, but you need to do it quickly and make sure you get full coverage the first time because if you try to go over it again it will clump and lift right off the appliance. the worst part about the expoxy brush on paint is the fumes. It's a combo of paint and strong glue. Within minutes you can become lightheaded and pass out, or worse (can be fatal) if you don't use a special mask and keep all the windows open. Good luck

RE:
Want to paint my white refrigerator black. Has anyone ever used appliance spray paint? Does it work?

My parents painted their refrigerator with appliance paint. They went from gold to white. I looked remarkable good but close up you could tell that it had been painted. After a while the white paint started to yellow a bit. Not sure if you would have this problem with black.

Yes, it works amazingly well. The only problem might be with the way you use it, so practice first before attempting to do the refrigerator. Mask off any areas you don't want painted so that you don't accidently paint something and you will do fine after a few practice pieces.

Yes,it works, but from white to black is extreme paint work.Do it outside where you don't have to breath the fumes and apply several coats. Don't try to make 1 coat work or it will look bad and not cover well.

yeah, no problem. only the fridge must not be on - it must be left off for some time -perfectly warmed to room temperature, it mustnot feel cool or even damp on the outside like when it is on!! how about metallic black?

as you touch the fridge everyday it is good idea to apply some hi resistance transparent finish OVER the color you like or make sure the paint you are using is heavy duty - you know really resistant to everyday touching, will not come off at places in a year
