exept maybe through a football around( on sun. aug. 6th), the only other thing is that I got kicked in the thigh reallllyyy hard, it didn't bruise but fealt like a charly horse for a couple of days(this happened tue. the 8th).

Now, the problem is that it feels like I have been stabbed in the ribs undernieth my right pec. It hurts when I breath or in any way stretch my chest, and it hurts the most when I lie down, especially on my back, I can't sleep. Also, my right shoulder feels like it needs to be cracked constantly, but it won't crack. I can still use my right arm normally, it's just that my shoulder has a constant dull pain, nothing makes it worse or better. I'm in a lot of pain, nothing that I can't deal with, but it gets frustrating when I can't sleep. I first noticed the pain on the afternoon of fri. 11th and it seems it's still just as bad now on mon.

Any doctors on here have an idea what's wrong, I'd hate to go spend $2000 for a them to tell me they can't do anythiing.

Ribs are a stabbing pain, shoulder is a dull pain.

I don't have a health plan, neither can I afford one. I also can't afford to go to the doctor unless it's really serious. I am a college student and struggle, financially, as it is. Obviously, if I could go to the doctor I would, and I wouldn't be asking here.

Let me clarify, I was only playing catch and I threw the ball like 5 times and that was 6 days before I noticed anything.
Secondly, I was kicked by my brother ( although he does kick like a horse, and he got me with his heal) and that was 4 days before I noticed anything.

I am a doc. It looks like you had pulled your muscles(chest muscles But there is a possibility of rib fracture. Rib fractures do not need any treatment. what you need is pain killers and some rest for a few weeks.

But, what you need is consultation with a doctor and an x-ray of chest.

Do you spend a lot of time on the computer? Is your posture right? Using your mouse without resting your elbow on the chair's arm can cause shoulder pain that travels down to the ribcage in severe cases.

So, look into that first. Lay off the computer work for a week to see if it gets better.

Next take salz bath. i.e., use gypsum salt in the tub and soak for a while. Do this twice a day, a.m. and p.m.

You probably had a severe kick on your side during your sports. In the heat of the game you did not notice it. After all, it is sports injury. If it is bruised it will probably get better over time. Give it a chance. Bruised rib does feel like as if you going to die. Don't worry, it will pass.

Pains normally get worse before they get better. You are the best doc for your body. Don't think docs have all the answers. They will put you thru x-ray and the like to come to the same conclusion.

I am no doctor. But life experience taught me things that a young doc cannot diagnose. I always buy half the prescription and do half of the things they advise and use my commonsense for the other half. My, it works...!

Depending on what kicked you and where on the thigh. I would say you got a real good jarring and wrenched some muscles that have not been used in that way for awhile. Have you taken any meds( over the counter) motrin, aleve, anything like that will reduce swelling from injured muscles and joints. You can take up to 800mgs of motrin at a time. Have you noticed any bruising? I got kicked by my horse once and everything(neck, arms, ribs, hips) hurt for a week or more and he only kicked me in the thigh. So I would go for some motrin and if symptoms do not go away or get worse in the next few days while taking the motrin I would see a doctor.

Sounds like you may have either pulled a muscle, which will get better in a few weeks, or fractured a rib to which they don't do anything but treat with pain medication.

...try some Motrin as this will help in either case. Hope this helps!

I would recommend an x-ray of your chest you could be suffering from a partially collapsed lung this can give you the symptoms you described these can occur from no exertion there are other posibilities but I would start with an x-ray first this can help the diagnosis greatly either way. Hope it helps reaper out..........
