The US does not hate China. I love China and it's culture. The martial arts of China are fantastic.
The US does not like how Chinese government treats human rights. That is true. The US is in favor of the people having rights. But hate, wrong. We love China.

There is no escaping cheap goods regardless of which country you're from. Some people believe that we should just stop China's cheap goods from coming into the country and the problem is solved. Those who advocate this doesn't understand economics. The leaders of your countries do understand economics and that's why they allow cheap goods to come in.
Let's look at it this way, so it'll be clearer. Let's compare United States and Canada. Each country is like a corporation competing to make more money. Let's suppose the Corporation named, the United States, decides to stop buying cheap goods from China. While, the Corporation named, Canada, continues to buy cheap goods from China. In the end, Canada will have LOWER EXPENSES as an entire country, which means it will have HIGHER PROFITS. United States has the exact opposite, because of higher expenses, because it is buying more expensive goods. The United States has LOWER PROFITS.
From the example, I hope that I've illustrated in a simple way why countries continue to allow China's goods to come into the country. If any country stops cheap China products from coming in, it will do more harm to their country than help. This is because other competing countries, such as Canada, U.K., France, Germany and so on will have LOWER COSTS. These competing countries will grow stronger, while United States will lag behind.
This is why stopping goods from China doesn't make sense. However, China cannot keep producing cheap goods forever. At some point, China will modernize and the chinese workers will slowly ask for higher wages, which will slowly increase prices of the goods they sell.

I don't think we hate China. I think the recent economic growth in China has put up a lot of competition for the US. It is the likes of Lou Dobbs at CNN who screamed about the "exporting of America" that created a mass hysteria about China. The truth is that America has lost its competitive edge and is feeling the pinch because we are selling less overseas and buying more from them. The problem? India is going to graduate 750,000 engineers in 2006... many more from China. The US? 75,000, half of which are foreign students. But, we are going to produce many more MBAs to replace the likes of Ken Lays at Enron. Instead of addressing the failure of our education system, we put our head in the sand and try to blame someone else.
China, has been a much stronger ally during the cold war than most people think. During the Ping Pong diplomacy, while Nixon was meeting Mao, Kissinger was in the back room turning over satellite shots of every Soviet troop mass, tank and artillery positions poised all along the Chinese border. The meeting opened an eastern front for the Soviets and further stretching the Soviet resources. Instead of worrying about NATO and the US, they have to deal with China as well. This eventually help brought the demise of the Soviets Union. It was many years later before this was declassified.

Short answer: they're still communist, so they're (one of) the last bastion of the Evil Empire of the cold war. We don't hate them, exactly -- we just don't trust them because they're form of government is different from ours. And they're the only other economy that can afford the size of military to qualify them as a military superpower these days, so we're also wary of the fact that they could challenge us in war (it's still best when you're the big kid on the playground and everyone else lives in awe of your strength and charisma)
Add to that the fact that they're economically powerful as well, churning out products that compete in some of the same international markets as ours, and there's a natural rivalry there. We don't hate China; we just wish they'd buy more of our crappy stuff, instead of selling us crappy stuff.

The Chinese are responsible for assisting North Korea. Missles,Weapons of Mass Destruction. They are allied with them. They are half the reason why we are still having conflicts with North Korea. The Chinese keep assisting and selling weapons to them.
