Does anyone have Direct TV? Do they like it? And how does the installation process work?

I have it and I love it. Basically some contractor installs the dish on the roof and give him about a hundred bucks. Way better than what my local cable company was offering and their customer service is divine in comparison to *cough*Comcasr*cough**cough*.

9 years and counting. I still like the programming variety (HDTV, PPV, HBO/SHO East and West, NFL Sunday Ticket, international, local channels).

Go w/ the installation option. They just mount a dish pointing towards Texas (where the 101w satellites are sitting). I had them connect the dish to a distribution block that splits the signal four ways, to my receivers in the house.

Agreed that rain fade (losing signal in heavy rainstorms) is, and always will be, an issue.

I like it. A tech guy comes out to install it and it is easy to operate. The bad thing is when a storm goes through it cuts off the signal.

the company will attach a dish to the roof of your house and do the set-up inside. it is usually cheaper than cable but sometimes during rain storms you will lose reception.
