According to the latest statistics (last Week) Court Reporters can earn 60-100K a year. It takes about 2 years to take the training. You have to be able to type 200 words/strokes per min. Many schools offer this course.

Of the three you mention, construction worker would probably pay the best. The down side is the work is physically demanding and the possibility of a career ending industrial accident is much greater than the other occupations you list. Even a severe paper cut just doesn't stack up to having a wall fall on you or feeling 50 amps of electricity surging through your body.

Now understand I mean a real construction worker, union journeyman carpenter, plumber, electrician etc. These jobs are not to be confused with non-union day laborer rates that are only slightly above minimum wage. Day laborers clean up the job site, strip roofs for new shingles, do certain types of demolition work etc.

Union scale for the jobs I listed should be available through web sites in your local area.

The last I heard, electrician was the top paying occupation followed closely by plumbing.
