Both.
It's a circular thing. If someone is really poor, due to their parents social class, then they might get a lesser education and poor upbringing which breeds ignorance.

On the other hand, if you are wasteful, then you can be costing yourself a lot of money, which could be spent other places. Also, if you are ignorant, you might not spend money wisely, making you poor. In this case, you might not be ignorant in the same way as someone who was poor to start with.

neither, take poor out of the equation. There are just as many poor, ignorant and wasteful people as there are rich or wealty ignorant and wasteful people.

ignorance isn't a class thing it's a people thing.

obviously on a general scale poorer people don't have as much to waste as someone who has money to do so.

There are many ignorant & wasteful rich people so the 2nd part of your question is stupid. Many in the poorer classes however, can be ignorant to certain things, but are not wasteful. Because they have to pinch & scrape by too much to have anything to waste.

If you are going to put people in classes that's up to you. The question is why?

Your question lacks thought about human nature. All "Classes" of folk are wasteful and ignorant. So called "poor" people have have more sense of self than given credit for.

This country will never getter better until every one gets on an even footing.

Pretty much anyone on this website is wasting time and energy! I have this computer sucking electricity, as well as a TV set playing, the sound is coming through my surround sound stereo. I am thinking about hopping in my all wheel drive vehicle to go to the store, but first I want to take a nice hot shower and blow dry my hair. How much of this do I not need? Compared to many much of this is wasteful.

That is a very arrogant question, you are "assuming". I have known many well-to-do people that didn't have a lick of sense, and very many poor people that had a knack for using and re-using things, wringing every last bit of usefulness out of whatever they had. I can remember when I was a very small girl, my grandma made my halloween mask out of the back of the October calendar, and she made me the prettiest little dresses out of flour sacks. I also remember eating beans and cornbread five days a week at my parents, and to this day all five of us "kids", now aged 54-61 still love beans and cornbread. We went barefoot inthe summer and got one pair of shoes when school started that lasted all year. We darn sure weren't wasteful, and I don't believe we were ignorant either. At least none of us failed at school and we all have good jobs, and great families.

Not necessarily - I know alot of very well off people who are ignorant and wasteful. A lot of rich kids I knew from college had NO sense of accountability.

Rich people. I live in a high-income town (although my family is not particularly high-income) and a lot of the people I know or have met are a little bit wasteful and ignorant, the more the richer they get.

I think there is some truth to both. But I am sure there are ignorant wasteful rich people.

Ignorant and wasteful people tend to be poor. I can't think of any one name off the top of my head, but you always hear of those people who came from nothing, lived in poverty, and rose above it all and became self made millionaires. Thats because they were smart and resourceful, not because they were poor.
