we get this error message only when we visit two particular sites: yahoo mail and an online banking site. this started after my dad got frustrated with the pc (it was taking a long time to shut down, so he just pulled the plug). we can browse the net, except these two sites. i already tried doing the possible fixes that the error page suggested, but they didnt work. help?

That is a firewall problem, Your firewall software is blocking the use of secured web sites just go into the firewall settings and add the websites that you are trying to access to allowed.
This will fix it

1. Clear cache. (Tools > Internet Options > Delete Cookies, Delete Files. Do both)
2. Make sure the address is correct.
3 Hit 'CTRL-F5' (refreshes the page from original server)

Hope it helps!

This is hard. Talk to whoever does you providing for your internet. When your father pulled the plug it could have caused a back fire and it could have destroyed the whole system. Talk to who provides your internet system is my advice.

1. Close the browser, reconnect to the internet, and try it again.

If that doesn't work. Then it might be the companys server.

What browser are you using? I'd say get Firefox (unless you ARE using that)..

If that doesn't work though... then I'd suggest contacting your internet provider.
