What kind of question is this? Everyone who likes to believe that they're better than everyone else, is going to say Harley. Everyone that likes noise.....Harley. Anyone that appreciates handling, power to weight ratio's, braking, reality...... is going to say " Anything but a Harley" Never forget.....the Pom's, and the Italians aren't too bad at chucking a few pieces of alloy together, and calling it a bike, too !!!!!

It is all personal preference. Myself given the choices I would rather a Kawasaki Vulcan rather than a Harley (excluding the V-Rod) but there is more out there than Harleys and Japanese motorcycles expand what you are looking at. There is definitely something to be said about a BMW or a Triumph or any other European bike.

A harley is just an expensive Show OFF bike
just as bad as crotch rockets

When I buy a bike it's because of the price tag,I want to ride and get the best fuel mileage,,I don't care what others think so I don't need a noisey high dollar vibrating Harley

Jap is the way to go

If a Harley had no foreign parts on it I would be more inclined to spend the extra $8-10,000("for a American Made bike"), more than I spent on my 2000 Roadstar. My bike a is 98cu inch (*Pushrod) engine. For another 2 grand I have a 100+ hp bike that looks and sounds great. My next bike will probably be a big dog atleast it is all American.

*Pushrod a must.

A new harley will drive just fine, and with little trouble, but they are not as fast as a Japanese bike.

Depends on the kind of riding you do. Long touring rides at constant speed are the hallmark of a Harley (when they run *giggle*), while in-city, somewhat more *ahem* aggressive driving is more the bailiwick of the rice-burners. Both (and we're talking about the flashier, high-end models of both types) require a good deal of maintenance and fine-tuning to get the most out of their performance. Also, obviously, the look is quite different, so it also depends on whether image is important to your overall experience. Harley's have a reputation for toughness, no-nonsense drivers, while the typically more colorful Japanese bikes are for the dangerous, devil-may-care crowd (and typically younger) Your choice.

the japs, or metrics as they are now called are a bunch of fine machines. they very seldom break downand run great. I ride an 04 Road King now and have about 36k on it. Never a bit of problem, and I can do the extremly long distance stuff (1000 mile+) in a day easy. The honda I had before would have run those distances, but my *** would not have been able to. Figure your kind of riding and buy what you can afford.

I'm glad I read these for the laughs.

I have a few.
At the moment, I like the Harley better. It's new.
It's all opinion, and everyone's got one............

Mine is: As long as it's got two wheels and no pedals, see ya! I'm ridin!

Hey, Harley's are supposed to be the 'in' thing, but if you just want to drop a crap load of money, then buy one, but for the price, lower cost of maintenance and gas mileage, I like my Kawasaki.
