Hi!

You should try a Print-On-Demand (POD) publisher. This is a good way to go for those who just want to publish a book for personal use- or to give to family members, etc.

Usually companies that do Print-On-Demand have packages for sale that can help make your book better. For example, you might purchase a package that not only prints 20 copies of your book, but has a copy editor take a look at your work to make sure that there are no grammar errors. Also, I know BookSurge has packages that will post your book on Amazon, just incase other people want to buy it. When a person buys it, Book Surge will print it, send it to them, and give you a royalty payment- which I think is around 25% of the book's price. So if the book costs $10.00, you will get $2.50 of it. Plus, you maintain the copyrights to your book- so you can always re-print with another publisher.

I think some POD companies even offer illustration/picture services for purchase or as part of a package deal. And some of these companies cater to children's books- which will be good for what you want.

You will just have to research the companies and see which one is best for you. I think prices can go anywhere from $100.00 to $1000.00 or more, depending on what you want for your book. The higher the price of the package, the more the POD company will do for your book... like marketing, creating a website, hard-cover book print, etc. However, for what you want, I suggest you purchase the cheapest package.

Here is a link so you can read up on POD.

BookSurge, iUniverse and Lulu are POD companies. I have put some POD company links in the source section of this post for you to check out-- just incase this is a route you want to take.

I hope this helps! Good Luck... T.

This is a great idea! For the printing, have you thought about Cafe Press? You never know, there might be other people who'd like to buy your book for their kids.
If you want to publish, don't use other peoples artwork as it will be copywrited. Think about what sort of pictures you'd want, are you sure you couldn't produce them yourself? Or do you have a freind with some art skills who'd be interested?

If you decide just to print for your daughter, a local print shop might be the best ides, they can print and bind.
As for the pictures, try looking for 'stock photo' or 'stock image' sites on the web' you want some that have free photos available. Stock places have libraries of photos for designers to use.

Why not try a local Art college, they could help you and you could help them by giving them something to show for their coursework/future employers.
Good luck, I wish I had something like that for my little two year old, bi-lingual grand-daughter.
As for the printing, check out other childrens books and perhaps approach the companies that printed some you like the look of.

Download pictures from the internet and get them bound in local shop. Simple.
