Ficus likes lots of water and food. But left to its own devices, the root system will rapidly cause extensive damage to pipes, septic systems and concrete as they seek water from any available source.

It makes a great indoor ornamental, and if you give it a nice big pot that allows water drainage, and plant it in nutrient-rich loose soil (like peat moss), give it lots of light, food and water, it will do great.

If, however, you decide to "free Willie" and plant him outside, you will have to call a tree surgeon and have him removed, like everybody else!

I have one that is 8feet tall.
I keep it in a sunny location but not direct sunlight.
I water it until water starts coming out of the bottom about once a week.
I feed it every 2 weeks in the summer months.
I repotted it once into a bigger pot and support it with a 8ft bamboo cane.
I prune branches every once in a while (do this during the daytime-if at night it will ooze sap everywhere.
