I use an ice cube to freeze the wax, then scrape it to get rid of most of the wax. Once it is almost all gone, I then go to the store and rent a Rug Doctor, and use boiling hot water in it to steam the stain out. I got red candle out of a light grey carpet that way...and there was a lot of it!

Well, I read somewhere to use BLOTTING paper, not sure if you can get that anymore, so maybe kitchen paper towel will do.
Place it on the wax, then put a very warm iron on it to melt the wax and draw it up into the kitchen towel. Now I guess you need to check that you don't actually melt the carpet, so do be careful.
It sounds like it would work, but have not done it myself I hasten to add. Good luck!

Candle Wax on Carpet
NOW: Ice and a metal pan
Put ice cubes into a metal pan. Place it right on top of the candle wax until the wax is frozen solid. With a small hammer, hit the wax to break it up. Pick up the pieces. Then apply dry-cleaning solvent on a clean cloth to remove any leftover residue.

First, wait for the wax to cool, then try to scrape off as much of the hardened drips as you can, using a dull knife. Then place a couple of white paper towels over the remaining wax and run a warm iron over the area. Repeat the process, using clean towels each time, until all the wax is gone. If wax residue remains, apply a bit of dry-cleaning solvent and blot

Place a few sheets of kitchen towel on the carpet, then iron over it with a warm iron. The kitchen towel should soak up the wax. Had the same thing happen, got most of it out.

Everyone has the same idea. I heard and even used the papertowel over the spot, then a piece of foil, ironing the foil and it will melt the wax and the papertowel will absorb most of it. I had to spot treat with the shampooer afterwards because the wax stained my light carpet.

Take the ice cube trays out of the fridge, and fill the tray with water. When its frozen into a sheet of ice, put this over the wax marks. Leave it there about 5 minutes, and you should be able to remove the wax easily as it will be hard.

Freeze it with an ice cube and then pick it out. Use carpet stain remover to get out the excess color form the candle.
