Because, search engines are not sufficient for the variety of answers you get out of a question. Search engines don't answer specific questions, but yahoo answer does. one advantage of yahoo answer is that it saves a lot of work and one disadvantage is that some people abuses it simply to earn points.

There are a number of reasons. One of the biggest is that searches are very impersonal and not necessarily accurate. It can be hard to find just the right query to get the info you are looking for. So instead people come here to ask others, who know more, to give them a more personal, direct answer.

Some people want opinions from others who may have actual past experience with the topic or just some reassurance/comfort from actual people and not search engines.

This is more fun because it gives a more personal touch.

Besides that it is sometimes quicker and more complete then an internet search. It is really amazing how quick you sometimes find complete answers including the right internet links !

Well, maybe some people just want personal experience as opposed to just reading about it and not knowing if it's made up or not. I love to see what funny stuff people have to say, also I like to offer my experience to those who can benefit knowing about it. It's also a good pass time. Why do you Yahoo! Answers?

Because we want to know what other people think and most sites only give you part of the info. free the other part cost ya something....and the Internet will try to sell you something where as here....you can get some honest answers (with some funny or crazy one too) and this is more fun.

I think they do it because it's more fun. Sometimes you use search engines and the results that you get are not satisfactory. When they use y! answers they get results from real people who are probably speaking from experience.
