If they are reborn as an animal then the soul did not die.
To not die is to be eternal.
Dust to dust is the corporus or flesh occupied by the spirit.
We are all dust in the wind in a sense.
In all the hypnotic past life regressions I am not aware of even 1 case where they were not human before.
You might want to read some of Larry Dossey's books.
He was an MD that upon encountering evidence of the spirit interviewed many health workers and documented their experiences as well as the patients who had near death experiences.

It seems like you are reversing things here! It's the eternal souls that get assigned to a body rather than the bodies deserving an eternal soul. The bodies will eventually go to ashes and dust, the soul moves on having had yet another glimpse of a temporal/temporary existence.
I also think it's a bit speciocentric to think that only humans have souls. Look your favorite pet in they eyes and think again. And if you don't have a favorite pet, rethink humanity and see that in our physical shape we are just another animal.
Oh and why is this physics, unless you are attempting to make another contribution to the TOE (theory of everything)?

If you don't plan to die within the first twenty years or so, there's a reasonable chance that it will become possible to preserve your soul on digital media so that you can get reborn as a kind of computer virus. If your soul is sacred, your church may put your soul on their website so that faithful people can download you and suck up your wisdom. If you're a black soul you may be installed on the virtual reality machine of some horror museum. If you're a mediocre soul you will be stored on passive media and can only hope to be loaded by your family on memorial day. If you're a low-esteemed soul, you'll just be deleted to make more space on the hard disk.

My faith is that all souls are immortal.
So what happens when we die?
Druids have always believed that the soul is immortal, with Druidry teaching a Western Tradition of reincarnation. Between and after incarnations, the soul is believed to dwell in the light of the otherworld or Summerlands which is neither "above" or "below", but rather "within".
The Summerlands are just another dimension, some souls dwell there much longer than others. None are sent to the darkness.

No one deserves an eternal soul, because no one is good enough to deserve such. People are given this gift of an eternal soul by our Creator and the choices we make determine whether our soul spends eternity with God or separated from God.

Soul is just a term like whether you believe that you live on a flat earth. It still is round and yes you still get reborn unless you realise the nature of the world.
Glad to help.

I think that depends on what you believe in. There are so many different answers to that based on what religions preach. In any case though, I doubt you will become compost. Energy, like science says, can't be destroyed. So, in my opinion, you will always exist. Bit philosophical. Hope I helped.

This is a stupid question. The soul is already eternal and has therefore eternal life, life after life in different bodies according to the desire and mentality of particular person - soul.
If somebody has material desires will be born in the material world if somebody developed his spiritual love for God and so, detachment from this material world, will attain the kingdom of God where you the soul can embrace God, Krishna.

We all have eternal souls now. We will exist forever in eternity. Where we spend eternity depends on our response to our creators invitation to have the "Life" that only He can offer. This is a good question. Seek the Truth and you will find Him.
