Mine's August 22. On some calendars, it's the first day of Virgo, others, the last day of Leo. I'd say you are definitely a Virgo.

Yes, but under the generaly rules of Astrology a forming aspect or other situation always has more power.

You are absolutely wrong. There is no concept of cusp as the way you understand it.

Clear depiction of the sign (sun or moon) require the correct and long calculations and hence you just can not fit your DOB in to a callender and find you sun sign.
