There is no one perfect gift. It depends on the girl. How big of a gift are you talking about. You could get her expensive jewelry. You could get a CD. It depends on what she would like. I would like to come home and someone will have cleaned my house! Get her car detailed. You have to think about what she would like? Get her a tshirt with "your name" Loves Me. embroidered on the front.

Take the traditional gifts, but make them personal to her. For example, you can give her a piece of jewelery (you can never go wrong with tasteful jewelery), but make sure it is one which has maybe your or her or both of your birth stones. Or... pick out a piece that matches her eyes or brings out the color in her eyes.
If you give her something smaller, like a CD of her favorite music or a DVD, I'd say you have to also give her a special date and no matter what you give, make sure you write a personal and special card.
Wait a second, I'm totally telling you what to do if this is your girlfriend.. but why did I make that assumption so quickly??? It could be any girl, couldn't it.
Well, if she's not your girlfriend then anything really goes... I suppose girls never dislike money to go shopping with... so a gift certificate to her favorite store would be good.... (I wouldn't want a guy to pick out an outfit for me because they'd most likely get it all wrong and then you're forced to wear it around them).

Anything that accompanies some good roses. Man the gift is valuable by the feelings of the giver. Think what the recipient would like and gift the same with some roses.

Romantic candle light dinner @some good hotel + a bunch of nice flowers + well-dressed and well-groomed you + plan everything for a day/night out (don't let the lady worry about everything) + a romantic gift that she likes (spa or suana gift voucher or membership/Tiffany jewelery/lingerie/any desinger's wallet or handbag)

A light diamond jwellary. I think it is the best gift for a girl. It is acceptable for all either she is your girlfriend, your fiancee, your sister, your daughter etc.

A bigger present doesn't mean a better present - for example a dozen roses is very romantic, but 2 dozen isn't more romantic.
