If a girl schedules an abortion and her health care covers it. If the abortion is paid for and she has to show up and get it, if the doctor let's her hear the heartbeat before she gets the abortion and she has a change of heart, can she change her mind and not go through with it? Can the insurance company sue her for having them pay the procedure she didn't use, or does she owe them one abortion? Should the girl just be told shut up, you decided to abort, it is paid for, and we're going through it now?

Sure, she could decide right there on the table not to do it.
But....she'd be outta luck with the monetary situation.

I have never heard of an insurance company paying for services in advance. If you had an evaluation or received a service prior to the actual abortion, then yes, you will have to pay for that visit but not the abortion itself. I don't quite understand your question, hope I have at least helped some. Good Luck, thats a major decision!

If a procedure is not preformed, it is not billed to the insurance company. Do more homework.

EDIT - you are 16 years old and ask a lot about abortion. Are you thinking about having one? Just asking.

Like absolutely every other medical situation, a doctor can not bill for a procedure that he does not perform and can not force you to have a procedure that you do not want - even if you will die without it. You can refuse any medical treatment at any time.

If a doctor forces you to have a procedure against your will, he will lose his license. They can no more make you "owe" them one abortion than you can owe a dentist one cavity. Do you honestly believe that your dentist can make you come in and get a filling in a perfectly good tooth because you changed your mind about a previous filling?

There may be some fee for the blood work and medical procedure prep work but no fee for the abortion. You have the right to say no.

No you dont have to go through with it and most insurnace companies wont "pre-pay" anything. You sound young let this be a lesson for birth control. Im not trying to be mean and i'm pro-choice myself, but find a method of birth control dont be another teen mom.

she can have a change of heart, of course! The money i am not sure but i guess she'd have to pay for the fact that there was time taken for her, time is money. I dont think she should pay for the missed abortion.

You have every right to decide not to murder the living baby inside of you! I have a pamphlet on the procedures and what they do to the baby. IM or email me and I will scan and send you a copy of it. It's not a fetus!!!...It's a baby with a pounding heart!

Most insurence companies don't pay till AFTER so if she didn't have the procedure then they just wont be billed for it...

Surely you don't have to tell the insurance company you didn't go through with it?
