To our present knowledge of the laws of physics, time travel is actually possible (in theory). However, if it is "possible" does not mean we know how to do it. (Re:Steven Hawkins & Roger Penrose).
Even if we did invent time travel, we could only travel back and forth in time FROM the time we inveted the machine. Say we invented in in 2000. We could travel to 3000, come back to 2001 or even to 2000, but we would not be able to go back to 1999.
This, maybe, could be the reason to deny what you call the grandfather paradox. (I invent a machine, go back in time, kill my grandfather before my father was born, so I was not born, so I did not invent the time machine, so I did not go back and did not kill my grandfather etc...)

I believe that there isn't a common past for everyone. There are an infinite number of possible things happening in the future, and just because you went back in time to stop your grandfather from having children, you're simply taking a different road into the future. But you yourself are the result from a different path into the future, and therefore this wouldn't really be a paradox.

Time Travel is possible, you just need four doors and wood from the hardware store, some small squares of glass, a blue flashing light and some blue paint.
but seriously, yes you could stop your grandparents conceiving, or one of them. because, you are born, that event has happened, you go back in time (so you are taken Out of time itself, in order to go back to the past) you arrive in the past, kill grandpa, when you go back to the future, you won't have existed the same in the new timeline, and the world would have changed slightly, because you still exist, but not in your complete state as earlier. (if grandma still has a child, by someone else, but only 1/2 would be your previous known father, because grandpa didn't contribute to your birth, and taking into account your mother not meeting your father whole, may still give birth to a child who in theory would be 1/2 her and half the new father, (if she did meet your father then that would make you 3/4 complete, because of your new grandad.)) so yourself in the new timeline would only be 1/2 to 3/4 of the previous person that time travelled, this is a study known as the whika effect. b8548677@yah00.co.uk

The only way time travel could, theoretically, be possible would be if you could build a transmitter and a receiver as with radio or television.
Theoretically, you would not have to wait at all for the results, you would only need the intention to enter the transmitter at some time in the future.
as soon as you switched on the receiver you would see yourself exit from it.
that is assuming that one person could occupy the same spacial time zone as himself
you could not stop your grandparents having children because as a consequence you would not be alive to stop them.

indeed in thorey time travel is possible as for the grandfather paradox it is flawed because you would have to kill both your granparent to keep your self from being born the only change to killing your grandfather would be you have a diffrent one and this is a paradox of it`s own .

If time travel were possible, someone from the future would come back and tell us that hey I am from the future. They would prove it. But last time I checked only a few NUTS claim to travel in time.
Think about it. Sort of reminds me of all those "faith healers". If I could heal somebody by laying hands on them, I would prove it and be on the 6 pm news tonight. HeadLines "Mirical Man goes to St Judes, and empties entire hospital. ALL children healed, he is headed to Vanderbelt next, get your check books out.

It depends on which theory you believes in.
1. It is not possible because it will disrupt space-time contiuenum. The whole universal will be destroyed.
2. Yes, it is possible, you just cease to exist from the time that happens. If you are x then y
