Using Intenet Explorer Menu
Tools --> Internet Options --> Connections and delete the Dial Up, also delete it from your Connect To... Folder

Hope this helps.

You probably got a Transceiver some times called a modem for broad band and it should have come with a disc to program it. Then you have to program your computer to use the LAN or Ethernet. Windows XP has the wizard to do this. It most likely says to install local area network. LAN and Ethernet are actually the same for most computers and you become part of the local networking system. Also go to the web site for the Broad Band provider and see what you need to do. If this is on cable then you definitely will have to check with the web site of the provider. I am sure others can explain it better.

If you don't have a backup dial-up plan (to use when DSL is down) and you don't intend to use your modem to send faxes, disable it in all profiles via the control panel.

Regardless of whether you wish to continue using your modem, occasionally, you will need to change your preferences in IE (tools -- internet options -- connections) so it will never attempt to dial out on its own.

Or purchase a instantaneous (wireless) adaptor, many are USB so which you in basic terms plug them in. With the two, you will want a router (under pressure interior the 1st option, instantaneous for the 2nd) to share your information superhighway connection.

You've gotta go into your network settings over the control panel, and then set it to don't dial a connection...that did it for us a while back when we got high speed
