When you can be completely comfortable, open, and honest with someone. And you return that with trust and commitment. I used to be quite the player, and I always thought it was just in my nature, that I couldn't be true to anyone. Then I met the one and I wouldn't even think of ever wanting to be with anyone else in the world. When you look into eachother's eyes and you feel like you love them the same way they love you. Equality, comfort, happiness, trust, intimacy. You will just know.

Because he/she will be the only person you'll want to be with, you'll spend every minute thinking about them, your heart will miss a beat when you see them, you'll feel butterflies in your stomach. You'll feel as if the 2 of you are in a bubble. You'd move heaven and earth for them, crawl on hot coals just for one kiss - get the idea YOU WILL KNOW.

Sorry for telling you this, but its like believing in Santa - after a certain age it just becomes silly!
There is no such thing as "The one" if you are really lucky you might get "The one who is OK right now!"

It's purely an instinct ... your stomach has butterflies maybe, your mind wanders from what you are doing to think about them, your palms sweat when you talk to them on the phone ... there's lots of signals.
If you have found "the one" ... hang on tight!

Sometimes you have to be with them for a long time before you're sure, but your common sense is a good guide, usually.

When you are comfortable with them just hanging around the house. When they do what they say they will. Someone who really like you just the way you are.

they dont pi$$ you off on a regular basis
you stop looking at other people as possible partners/ or as sexual beings

Usually i don't believe in 'the one' but when someone comes along, brighten up your day! You have 'your one'. Not someone who you can live with but someone whom you can't live without
