The major differences between Nokia N80 and O2 Atom are as follow:

1) N80 is quad-band GSM + WCDMA, O2 Atom is tri-band GSM only.
2) N80's screen resolution is 352 x 416, while O2 Atom has QVGA (240 x 320). N80 does not have touch-screen while O2 Atom does.
3) N80 has 3 megapixel CMOS camera, while O2 Atom has 2 megapixel CMOS.
4) N80 is a Symbian device while O2 Atom is powered by Windows Mobile.
5) N80 only has a 820mAh battery while O2 Atom has a much bigger 1530mAh battery.
6) N80 has a slower processor of around 200MHz (or 220MHz, not sure), while O2 Atom CPU is around 400MHz.
7) N80 has 40MB RAM while O2 Atom has 64MB. Note that in both cases, you won't be able to use all of them since some of space is taken already by the phone itself.

As for which phone to get, it really depends on your priorites. If you expect to enter a lot of data into your mobile, O2 Atom is probably the better choice since it has a touch-screen and thus it allows you to scribble. Arguably it's faster than using keypads (even with T9 input). Windows Mobile also has a bigger array of 3rd party applications. N80 on the other hand has better multimedia capabities and a higher resolution, as well as an arguably better OS. To me it has better styles (in black especially) even though it has its own flaws. N80 is also smaller than O2 Atom.

It you are a casual user of smartphone that does not enter a lot of data via the mobile, I think N80 is probably the better (but more expensive) choice. Otherwise, check out O2 Atom. IMO!

O2 Atom runs windows mobile. If you need masses of functionality out of your phone, go for that. Highly customisable with apps galore.

The N80 is buggy for applications. Wifi is harder to setup on it aswell, whereas the windows mobile platform is pretty much simplicity itself.

If you don't care how much you're paying, go for the Atom.
