Our nation is hopelessly trapped in the past, unwilling to embrace any ideas that are even remotely unconventional. While our people are struggling for the purchase of oil, investors would loose a great deal of money if they changed the industry at all, and unfortunately, these are the people who can make this transition happen. Oil is a very important part of our society as well as our financial status, so as to not risk changing it, we apparently prefer relying on other countries for trade etc., as well as destroying our security by means of fossil fuels, and our only asset in there future.

When did it become the government's job to do work on your car? If you want to run vegetable oil pay the couple of thousand and make the change.

The patent is owned by the oil companies. You wold have to get their permission to produce the engines that can run on vegetable oil. This wold hurt their profits, so you are more likely to get struck by lightening.

bio-ethanol is probably a better source of fuel and it requires absolutely no modifications to your engine. The EU have mandated minimum amounts that must be used and this will increase over time. The scandanavians (as always) have a reasonably big supply already.

You can do it yourself at the below website for like $800.00. A lot of restaraunts have their oil cleaned and reuse it also, so they just don't give it away.
