If you want legal partnership rights then it could well make you happier.

Discrimination is overcome in many ways, and equality of choice is one of them.

I would ask the question of yourself as to whether it would make you happier, and a civil ceremony is far cheaper than a church wedding, make your choice, but do it for love.

gives you the same legal rights as a marriage for such things as inheritance or receiving credits for partners insurance contributions, allows you to receive the same cut price deals that a married partner would have if you work for people such as BA or transport companies as they all get discounted travel. May not make you happier, but would give you a lot of legal strength should your partner die.
