War happens...apparently it is necessary...peace comes after someone wins and someone losses...the two sides might even have bad feelings (hatred?) toward one another afterward...when hatred exists, "let's just talk and work it out" doesn't seem to do it. It appears that power rules. Was the Revolutionary War a bad thing???

I agree. Sometimes talking can resolve issues, sometimes it can't. It is also okay to disagree, but when we are affected by that disagreement then sometimes war is necessary.

The problem with your question is that no one reads the classics any more. If the read the classics, your question would be entirely unnecessary because people would know that war is a necessary tool of human progression. It was war that led to Rome, and was that ended Rome. It was was that brought about 90% of our technological achievements.

People need to read their Clausewitz. Peace is ONLY ACHEIVED through superior force, and peace is the time in which different people prepare for war. Some people do better at war than others because they are better at organization.

Well lets see does Taxation with out Representation sound familiar? With out the Revolutionary War the British would hold the largest empire in the world and most of its resources and instead of speaking German we all would be speaking English--well on that note most of the world does but atleast it doesn't answer to the Crown.

"Why of course the people don't want war ... But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship ... Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger." — Hermann Goering, Nazi leader, at the Nuremberg Trials after World War II

I think war should be considered the final option. In the 21st century, I am pretty sure that we can use something other than the most prehistoric, primitive method available, killing other people to prove you are better.

I GUESS THAT DEPENDS ON WHICH SIDE YOUR ON. AS AN AMERICAN, I'M VERY HAPPY TO BE ABLE TO VOTE FOR MY LEADER AND NOT HAVE ONE HANDED DOWN FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION.
