Usually, the consequences of your own wrong doing are caused by you alone, not by God punishing you. Like when you lie, and you get found out and no one will trust you anymore, that is the penalty, brought on by no one but yourself. Also, if you do not go to confession to rid your soul of the impurities of your sins, you will not be able to go to heaven. And your soul will rot in hell.

I do not feel confession or just believing wipes a clean slate for anyone to get into heaven unless that person changes for the better and never commits the sin again.
So the ultimate penalty is hell. But before that for a penalty you have your conscience (if you have one), society judging you, seeing people suffer because of your sin....jail, prison.....lots of penalties

sillysister4 is right, the penalty for sin is Death. Not physical death as You may know, but spiritual death (referred in the Holy Bible as the "Second Death". You'll see that the body You are living in is just a shell, a vehicle for Your soul. Why do more people not have faith in Jesus Christ? Everything He taught about has either came true or is coming true today. He said "You will be hated for My name's sake", He also said how in the last days how "man's love for one another will grow cold". Do we not see this today? People do not realize how simple it is to be saved. Almighty God made it simple for a reason...He loves us so much! Just believing! That's it! Just believing that Jesus died for You and me is all! God be with all of You! :-)

No, because there's no such thing as sin, that concept was invented by primitive leaders as a reason to torture whoever they felt like.

In God's book, it's Death. However, Jesus already paid that price for us, and it's up to us to choose if we want to accept His gift of life.
