FreeCycle

http://www.freecycle.org/

The Freecycle Network™ is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer (them's good people). Membership is free. To sign up, find your community by clicking on the region on the left. You may then go directly to your local group by clicking on "Go To" or you may immediately joining by clicking on "Join." It will generate an automatic e-mail which, when sent, will sign you up for the local group and send you a response with instructions on how it works. Can't find a group near you? You might want to consider starting one . Have fun!

Research has shown that hoarding is linked to obsessive compulsive disorder and mental problems. Brainscans of hoarders revealed damage to a part of the frontal lobes of the cortex, and particularly on the right side.

It's important to address what hoarders themselves say about why they hoard, and what purpose it serves them, which is usually as a coping mechanism. People hoard for specific reasons, not just because they like doing it, instead it's because they have some sort of personal attachment to whatever it is they hoard, whether it's a piece of paper that they think will come in handy at some point, or whether it's something that's part of them.

You may need to visit your GP or get some counselling.

You could try an number of options really: -

1) try selling them at a boot sale
2) try selling them on Ebay or other online internet facility
3) try giving them to a charity organisation
4) try giving them away to a alternative charity shop & not the one you orignially collected the items from in the first place.

Yard sale!
or
Around here they(charity organizations) call and offer to pick that sort of thing up frequently, then you can leave it on your doorstep. I'd do a bit of calling around, if there are any charity stores or second hand stores in your area, they might be interested. Some second hand stores will pay you or give you store credit for things you bring in that are in good condition.

First, go the things and decide what you would like to keep and what you don't want to keep and sort that out. Then, go through the things that you want to keep and make sure that's what you want to do. It's basically, process of elimination. Then just get rid of what you really don't want out in the trash, thrift stores, shelters for homeless etc. Or have yourself a garage sale and make a little money. Good Luck

They say if you haven't used it for 6 months dispose thereof.

Try donating it to another Charity Shop who may have success in selling them. An alternative is to find a "Setting up Home" charity organisation in your area like "Homestart" and donate household items to them. Toys if in good condition to a hospital, playgroup etc.

Put it on EBay as a job lot as pick up only, give it to the local art college they can make some fab art out of other peoples junk, set up your own web page and see if you can swap it for something else, that guy in Canada did and he ended up with a big house for his junk, good luck.

Advertise a house clearence in the local paper, this way people will come to you. If you do it in conjunction with a charity, they might be able to get a big free advert.

Give it back to the charity shops, there will be more needy people than you obviously. Your selfish for taking it in the first place!
