First, you listen to what they are really saying. Agree with them on a few points. Let them think they are in control. Then I gently place an idea in their head, make them think they thought of it. Read Zig Zigler, he is excellent. Its really important that they think you are credible and most important, that they can trust you.

You do not have the right nor should you expect to change the will of others, however, by being an example for others you may be able to make them want to be like you.
