You don't mention the mode of taking the temperature, pretty important as results do vary depending on how the temperature is taken as well as the age of the child. If taken orally, a fever of .4 above the norm for a child under 5, in this heat should be considered normal, and not a cause for alarm or any medication. Using the underarm method or an ear sensing device the temperatur is within the range of variance for those methods. Young children do not have the ability to regulate body heat like adults do so they tend to have higher "normal" temperatures.

The important question to ask is if the child is lethargic or not as happy as usual, a young child's behavior is a very good indicator of illness. If there is no change in the child's behavior (from the norm) then by all means stop the meds. if the child is lethargic, not playing, uncharacteristically quiet then you may wish to consider switching doctors.

Unless you note the child's behavior has been altered by the fever, I would ignore anything below 101 degrees. Additionally. if you are giving the child medicine to reduce the temperature for such a long time you will see the temperature drop shortly after giving the dose and then begin to climb. Long term medicating of younger children (for fever) can be counterproductive, causing peaks and valleys rather than a steady temperature.

Do what the doctor suggests. A fever of 99 is not dangerous, and indeed, might even be being caused by the anti-fever medicines. If people are on those kind of meds too long, a 'rebound fever' results. This type of fever happens often in hospital when people are on Tylenol/aspirin/etc. too long.
Stop giving your daughter the medicine, and monitor her fever. If it stays around 99, or drops lower, great. If the fever goes up over 100 or 101, get her to the doctor again.

You're gonna need to elaborate a bit here.

What part of the world do you live in? Are there any other symptoms besides raised temperature? Has she had any jabs recently? What medicines was she being given? And why did the doctor suggest these be stopped?

Considering the average body temp is 98.6 she's only running a temp of point 4 degrees. Some run higher and are normal for them, some run lower and are normal for them.
Don't panic, a temp of point 4 degrees above the average norm IS NOT something to fret over.

ninety 9 might want to be her standard temperature yet fever isn't something to be feared besides except it get's to the threat factor. Fever is truly the our bodies reaction to kill undesirable germs. Giving too a lot tylenol and motrin on a low grade fever is truly no longer a good ingredient. enable the body do it is ingredient and watch it the temp. My well being care provider reported now to not provide tylenol except the the fever is 102. How does the newborn act? Does she act standard or torpid. If she is appearing standard and the well being care provider shows preventing meds then do.

I'm not a doctor, but I know what my mom used to do when I had high fever. No medicine worked, but this. Take one big potatoe and slice it, thick slices. Wrap the slices [like tomatoe slices on a sub] in a small damp towel, put it on your daughter's forehead, arms, legs. [even chest if you want] Her fever should go down. Throw away the potatoes when they turn black. You can also try with shredded cabbage. Just plain white cabage. Good luck!

Have her adenoids been checked? Smell her breath right after she brushes her teeth. If her adenoids are infected you will be able to smell a fowl odor on her breath that is very different from regular morning breath. My son ran a fever for 15 days while on antibiotic and was tested for virus. They never found anything. I switched doctors and they sent my son the an ear, nose, and throat doctor where we found his infection to be in his adenoids.

99 degrees isn't considered a fever. It's within the normal range of body temperature. A variation of .4 degrees is not alarming.

99 is not necessarily high for a child. Is your child on medication now? Need a bit more specifics. Any symptoms, cough, runny nose, sore or red throat. Does the child complain about any pain or irritation, for example the ears. Need more info.
