Well, evolution seems to have culminated in the creation of the human species almost by design. I think that even if something happened to make humans extinct, like nuclear war, that over a long period of time humans would evolve again. So in that sense I think humans are eternal.

Biblically, we were created for everlasting life.
Adam and Eve had a big task of filling the earth and taking care of it. Death came in the picture only when they disobeyed God.
But the sin of Adam is ransomed by the "Greater Adam", Jesus Christ, who is the only-begotten, firstborn Son of God. He was sent by the Almighty to give us the chance to regain everlasting life.
Soon, the earth will be cleansed into a "New Earth", and a new government, the "New Heaven" will replace human rule. The earth will become a Paradise once more and death will be destroyed, in God's timetable. No one will be sick or die anymore.

I doubt it. We will either destroy ourselves, or something else will destroy us. We're nothing more than another species awaiting extinction. Earth would be a lot better off if we were to disappear.

The way we are screwing up this planet, I surely don't hope so. Eventually something more intelligent wil take over - like cockroaches...
