Israel and the Lebanese and Hezbollah have agreed to the UN resolution. The entire world through the auspices of the UN have agreed. The resolution is about as even handed as could be expected and is the best hope for peace.
If Hezbollah are as smart as they are deadly, then they will obey the resolution to the letter AND to the spirit of the agreement. That way we shall see if Israel can do likewise.
If Israel do not allow humanitarian aid into areas they are conducting 'defensive' mopping up ops in, then the entire world, (Especially including the USA) will know who to blame for any failure.
Hezbollah now has an opportunity to seaze the upper hand over Israel with respect to humanitarian and international law. Through this they could drive a wedge between Israel and the USA.
This will not be easy. Let's see how restrained and smart Hezbollah can be. If they are the mindless violent terrorists that many people say they are, then Israel will find themselves with an opportunity to destroy Hezbollah (and half of Lebanon, Syria and with the help of the US, Iran too)
We are standing at a precipice. We must not fall over the edge.

It's not rivalry. It's not 6 of one and half a dozen of the other, either.
The aggressor is Israel and Hezbollah is blamed for defensive action.
Israel will use any excuse not to keep to any treaty or UN resolution that does not suit it. It has powerful backers and that's why it can act this way. Israel is NOT there for religious reasons, but some Israelis are. Look at breaking news -http://www.guardian.co.uk/ and find "Bush help Israeli attack"

Israel and Lebanon had a peace deal. It was broken by a third party, hizbollah, who acted without the lebanese parliament's knowledge (maybe the hizbollah parliament members knew, but the body as a whole didn't authorize the operation).
Israel was also in violation of the agreement, they had multiple infractions of the blue line and killed lebanese civilians, but there was no response from lebanon.
Israel knows that their actions are creating more terrorists, which begs the question, why do they persist in doing what hasn't worked for 60 years? (unless the goal isn't to eliminate terrorism, but achieve something else...)

Not in my life time.
This cease-fire is a farce as Israel have said they will still bomb any moving vehicles in the city of Tyre.
I see this a chance for both sides to have some R&R and restock before it all kicks off again... Soon.
