You should go to your doc. Knee problems are very serious. I just had surgery on my knee on friday and got out of the hospital yesterday. I hyperextended it in gymnastics. Ouch!! You may have torn or sprained something. I hyp. extended my knee and the doc said if i couldnt walk on it by the end of summer i would have to get surgery. Sure enough... I ce it trust me it will feel a lot better. I play b-ball too!! I also LOVE tennis. Good Luck!!

I am NOT a doc. But I have plenty of experience in these things.
Knees are funny things. They do not communicate with brain very well. This is why you feel/don't feel the pain sometimes.

Here is what I think has happend: Your ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) which is at the back of your knee like a cross and the other one, which is Meniscus have gone thru trauma. Either they are snapped like a rubber band or stretched beyond repair.

These two ligaments help you stand straight and take the load when you make a sudden turn. Sorry to tell you this, if these are torn, which I think it is, then you are SOL (**** out of luck) for basketball, tennis or any racquet sports.

Bad news/Good news: First the BN: ligaments do not heal. Now, the GN: It depends- if you are young - you should undergo an operation for correcting this. Consult a knee specialist.

Stay on that knee brace until it is fully diagnosed. You are doing the right thing there by using the brace. DO NOT play basket ball until you fully diagnose the problem.

You should go to the doctors. She may have torn a ligament or something. Put a heating pad on your knee every day, to relax the pain a bit. I understand you need to play basketball, so just take it easy the rest of the time that you aren't.
When me and my dad were playing basketball once, I rolled my ankle and he told me not to be a girl and continue playing. I have now painsin my ankle when I walk occasionally.
If you can, I would recommend sitting out, at least for a little bit of practice, then going in when the pain is gone a bit.

well, you want to take some tylenol to get rid of the pain eep wearing the knee brace and set up an appointment with a doctor because you may have to have knee surgery the same thing happened to me but the tylenol and the knee brace helped me but since you still have the pain go ahead and get that checked before it gets any worse.

i'm not a doctor, and i am not trying to scare you, but a "pop" in the joints from a jarring can be a torn ligament...you should seek a doctor's advice as soon as possible, and quit exercising your hurt knee(you could hurt it worse)...good luck...

Go see a Doctor. You might have sprained a ligament or maybe tore one.
