Try thinking of something to take my mind off whatever situation I'm in.

If you are nervous then it means you know what the outcome MIGHT be. You are afraid of something, maybe it's an interview and you do not feel confident that you are the one for the job. It's fear and we experience it daily. You look both ways before crossing the street because you are afraid of being hit by a car. But you are not nervous about it because you have some control over it. Usually anything outside our comfort zone makes us nervous. Why because we have some respect for yourselves and we do not want to get hurt or die. This is normal.

Try to focus on why you are there. What's the reason behind all this, what are you trying to achieve. Is it a better job so you can provide more for you and family? Then you have every right to be there and to achieve more etc...I hope this helps you in some way. So in one word get some indignation.

Think about what your asking for a moment. Even, some of the answers who are admit tingly suffering from stress, nervousness, anxiety. The reason you experience these illusions are simply how you are responding to a situation in your life OR someones else's life. Look:
Stay Calm.
Be yourself and choose not to worry. Even say it out-loud if you have to but don't "focus", don't think about "anything related to those negative words. Rather focus on the positive. Say this until the worry (notice I didn't use the word your) goes away.

"I am a positive person who is full of love and nothing, nor nobody, can interfere with my beautiful loving day". "I have no problems, only solutions".

It doesn't have to be exactly those words, those are an example, but they will word for you, me, and anyone else who chooses to be...love, joy, peace, good health, prosperity, anything good.

God Loves you, so you can think and be love. Avoid negative news from the TV and other people. Do not take other peoples worries into your life. It's OK to pray, help them with what is within your means to do so, but don't take on the problems of the world.

Jesus already did this for us all.

I understand situations exist, but I hope the information provided will help reduce stress in your(s) life. In fact, I know they will because I also just prayed for you.

If this is a recurring problem for you, take some steps to learn why you get nervous and plan how to solve the problem. If you have anxiety that affects your life maybe join a group. A good one is Recovery inc http://www.recovery-inc.com/. They will teach you simple tools to manage anxiety and nervousness. If you are not a group person, get a book on anxiety. You can learn how to not be nervous. Use affirmations- they really do help. Stop the self-talk that causes the nervousness by retraining your brain. Try it.

I usually get the most nervous at work. I am a 911 dispatcher so I get the calls with people panicking. I am able to distract myself through helping someone else stay calm. Other than my job, I don't really get that nervous!

I wish I knew how. My problem when I am nervous is that I just get worse thinking about the problem at hand. I've tried everything from meditation to going for a walk to calling a friend to talk. Nothing works for me. I'm still nervous!! I hope you find the answer for all of us "nervous" folk!!

Deep breathes and think a out something you like doing / nice place. Depends also on why you are nervous - if its a speech or exam - good preparation is the key - hard work always pays off in this repsect.

I keep calm by just by relaxing and breathing evenly and meditating on something pleasant. A waterfall, a sunset, a baby's smile....
I tell my self that it's going to be alright, everything is going to work out just fine. I build myself up with positive thoughts.

This going to sound totally corny. I look at my pocket change. and select the oldest coin. Not unusual to find one from the 70's. I hold on to the coin and concentrate about that this coin has survived all this time and it will keep on surviving after this moment just like I will.
