LOL what is he? SuperBono?
I admire his efforts. As a celebrity he can draw attention to the Africans' plight (which is often a very useful and helpful thing to do as it encourages public interest, look what Bob Geldof did with Band Aid/Live Aid back in the 80s) but I wouldn't say he can "save" any country, he doesn't have that power. Its in the hands of the leaders of the richest and most powerful countries, not a rock star!
I kind of agree though that he's rich enough to make a lot of difference if he donated most of his money to the cause, although I doubt he or any other rich celeb would do that. Its good when celebs stand up for what they beleive in as it does draw attention to the matter (more people perhaps notice if Bono says something than if a boring old Politician says it) but then you can't help thinking . . "Hmmm . . . he's a millionaire - how does he feel knowing how much money he has and how many ferraris/castles in the South of France etc and watching kids starve to death?"

I doubt he can. Africa needs a complete political and economic change which Bono can't bring about.
Someone said,
"You can't end poverty by giving people money"
Bono can surely make a few schools and give them food for a few months but unless they are able to help themselves, there wont be a significant or long term effect. Bono can play a small part in making them able to help themselves, by getting the G8 countries to accept the Live8 conditions and all. But a country cannot thrive on outside help.Outside help can only boost the effect, cannot continue the betterment process for long.
Nonetheless, whatever Bono is doing is noble and we all must support him. Atleast someone is concerned and working toward the betterment of humanity instead of being selfish ignorant fools, who have thier own homes and stomachs full, who drive fast cars and go to clubs and don't have the faintest idea that two-third of the world is going through and how many children die due to hunger and thirst everyday.
Bono Rocks!

Bono has done well with the cancelling of debt and raising awareness. I think sending money is insulting, the African people should establish their own strategy then we can support them with knowledge and hard work- just sending money can't be the answer.

Africa can't be saved until the majority of the world acknowledges the problems, and works together to solve them.

Africa wasn't doing badly when in the British Empire. The Africans have made a right pig's ear of it since they got independence. If you can call it independence when we pay millions in aid to them ,that they waste on corrupt dictators.
Bono can do nothing but make a noise.
