Snail mail - because there is nothing that can compare to sheet of white (or any other coloure) paper and ink pen.
When you are writing it...
And when you get one... I like when there is no address of the sender on the envelope and I can guess who have send it. I like real letters.
2. messenger

e-mail. And you asked for reasons
Snail mail: I need to retrieve the thing from a mess of circulars in my mailbox, open it and read it. It takes too long.
Phone: No record, and no time to think of a response. Intrusive. You have to answer at the time the call occurs.
Messanger: Most of the same problems as phone. It whacks right in, and interupts what you are doing.
I like e-mail because I have a record, I can think about a responce, and I answer it when I am ready too, not when the person sends it.

I like personal contacts with a person, there is nothing better tha having eye contact.
If that's not possible, telephone, cause I can still hear moods etc.
E-mail is excellent for fast messages that end up directly with the right person, but they are somehow more sterile than the other two.
Letter writing is a dying art. A few of my older friends still do it, and every once in a while I get a six page letter full of detail.

Snail mail written on pretty stationery!
That's because it has a lasting effect and you can keep it in your treasure box and look at it in 20 years! :)

I prefer face to face communication. Nothing gets lost in translation when you are there in person talking with another.
