I'm looking to spend up to $500 if I think it's worth it. It's for my fiance on the wedding day. Please let me know if you know of a specific watch or watch brand that you'd recommend. He's a 30 year old professional. Something with a silver or white gold band.

And also, I'd go up to 1K if I REALLY REALLY thought he'd love it.

I like the Tag-Heuer watches, you might have to go a little over $500 but well worth it. I have a stainless Steel (not shiny silver) with a black face, it is a great watch, and goes with every occasion.
Good luck- & congrats on the wedding.

I don't think that you will get a new Rolex in that price range. I own six watches (my father was a watch maker). All suggestions are good, my favourite watches that I own are Seiko and Bulova. your best bet probably is to go to a reputable jewellery store, not a watch warehouse and ask their advice. It also depends if you think that he would like a chronograph type which tends to be more sporty or a dress type. I have a different watch for different occasions. Go take a look and see what you think is "him". To me a watch is a very personal thing and a lovely gift, excellent choice. Good luck.

Tissot PRS200
Men's Chronograph Watch
This is a really nice watch, it's simple, but has a manly look to iy. I think the brand Tissot is probably your best bet. The brand is well-known, and he'll know that you care about him. You may not 100 percent like this watch in particular but look around for one. Good luck, I hope all goes well!

I postponed this decision for months, but as my SIHH 2011 Trade Show Review is still stored as a draft, I had to face reality… Hope you respect my decision.
And this is a trend unfortunately, because all the other contributors are drowning in their own watch activities… Therefore I transforming this post in to a non-profit job opening :)

To be honest, I like metal fossil and you can get them for about $80. If it was a really special occasion, I'd love a tag heuer. Some are in your price range, but several are a bit above it.

I bought my man a watch with his favourite footy team on it, it was about $200 but if your man is professional, maybe something like that isnt appropriate, but men do love there sports!
