Nope. I have done a survey of the small amount of research that has been done.
Cannabis does not ease cancer, rather it temporarily reduces some of the adverse symptoms. HOWEVER, it does make certain cancers worse.
Actually, the Feds would save money if cannabis were a legitimate cancer treatment. Guess who spends the most on cancer treatments. Medicare. Followed by Medicaid. Way behind is the Insurance Industry, which is sort of like a tax, in that the corporations that buy it, pass the cost on to the consumers..
There are a number of reasons for cannabis to remain illegal. The original reasons were a little bogus, but there was no scientific data. Now there is.
Cannabis is far worse than most people realize, and some even accept it almost as an article of faith that cannabis is harmless.
Most of Europe is recriminalizing cannabis due to the scientific research.
It was hard to get research funding, because the cannabis industry had no constituency, but starting with Australia and New Zealand, who wished to save money on medical and criminal expenses, the research was justified and undertaken.
Turns out, cannabis will result in far more medical expenses than it would reduce.
We do need a better way to reduce medical expenses, and in the USA, actually receive medical care that somehow relates to the outrageous costs of medical care. Relative to the rest of the industrialized world, USA pays over five times of National Income on Medical care, and yet ranks somewhere between 28th and 36th in terms of quality of health care.
Addendum to rouge: There is something to what you say, However, he was allied with DuPont, who had the process for using pulp wood for paper. Hearst invented the word marijuana to ridicule cannabis, which is why I never use the term. Also, Prohibition was over, and lots of revenuers were about to be out of a job in the depression, and they had guns, so the US passed the cannabis tax law. Cannabis was promoted during WW2 after this and the tax was set aside, but cannabis didn't become illegal until the mid-50s.

No, marijuana is good for pain, nausea, and improving ones appetite but it does not inhibit malignant cell growth the way cancer drugs do. Any loss of tax revenue to the government caused by medical marijuana would be more than made up by savings on government funded health care like Medicaid and the VA. I'm all for legalization but I don't think conspiracy theories help the cause.

My dear, marijuana grows anywhere, like a weed. Where would the money be in marijuana if it was legal. we could all grow it in our back yards. By being illegal, not only do the drug companies make money, so do the police, the jails, lawyers, dealers(many who are put in business using drugs confiscated by police.) The illegalization of marijuana is a money making scam. I mean, come on, if they cared so much about your health would alcohol be legal ? which is much more addictive and harmful than marijuana.

Hearst is to blame. He was scared that hemp would affect his income. So he started humping the legs of politicians to have it banned and made illegal.
Its really a fascinating story how one fat cat with money can use propaganda to make his wallet richer.
