I am looking for anyone who has done this. I have heard about
a adapter plate to mount the 302 to the jeep transmission.

Most people use chevy engines in a jeep. But in a cherokee it'll overheat all the time. They can barely cool the engines they came stock with. But call advance adapters they can probably help you.

It would actually be easier to put in a ford transmission rather than get an adapter plate. A chevy motor would probably fit better as some had the 2.8 chevy V-6 with the Dodge 904 tranny. Good luck.

Wouldn't bother with it jeeps are piles of junk I know this from experience. I used to work in a car yard when I was a young whipper snapper detailing cars and they were the biggest junk piles around. put it into a sprint car or something or better still a lightweight coup and have some real fun:)! No offence just my opinion.
